A Closer Look: One Hillsborough Church

West Hillsborough Baptist Church

LOCATION: 2717 W Hillsborough Ave., Tampa. 872-9908.

SERVICES: Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. and is followed by a worship service at 10:45 a.m. Bible study is held at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesdays and is followed by choir practice at 7 p.m. A Friday morning service is held at 10. A women's Bible study takes place on Thursday evenings at 7. Men's groups meet Saturday mornings at 7, Tuesday mornings at 6 and Thursday nights at 7.

LEADERSHIP: Albert Nasworthy had been the pastor for four years and recently left to pastor a church in North Tampa. The pastor search committee is currently reviewing resumes for a pastor. If you are a pastor and you are interested in having the committee review your resume, please contact the church office at 813-872-9908 and speak with the secretary Pat Edwards.

HISTORY: West Hillsborough was founded in April 1929 by Elbert Tyner. The church started with 16 charter members who met in a small house. One of these charter members is still with the congregation.


COMMUNITY OUTREACH: The Lord's Heritage Mission Closet is a ministry that provides free food and clothing for the community. They meet every Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
