Exhibit travels Time's 'Person of Year' history

ST. PETERSBURG -- Over the past 75 years, Time magazine has named such diverse figures as Charles Lindbergh, Mohandas Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Ronald Reagan and the Ayatollah Khomeini as its "Person of the Year."

Now they're all coming to St. Petersburg.

Beginning next month, Florida International Museum will host a traveling multimedia exhibit looking at those who have been Time's "Person of the Year."

The exhibit opens Sept. 11 and will run through Oct. 27 at the museum at 100 Second St. N.

The exhibit includes a 75-year chronology of Time "Person of the Year" covers with commentary from both the original issues of Time and from a modern perspective. It also includes historic photographs and a video that illustrates how editors make the choice.

The award's criteria: "The person or persons who most affected the news of our lives, for good or ill, this year."

The museum admission is $12 for adults, $11 for college students and seniors, and $6 for younger students. Children under 6 get in free.
