Motorcyclist dies in early morning accidentBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published August 4, 2002 TAMPA -- A Tampa man died early Saturday in a motorcycle accident in east Hillsborough. At about 4:10 a.m., Jeremy Groth, 48, of 4513 Green Palm Lane was driving a 1992 Yamaha north on Dormany Road "at a high rate of speed," according to the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office. Groth failed to negotiate a right-hand curve near Cottage Forest Court and was thrown from the motorcycle. Authorities said he struck a wooden fence and died at the scene. Body found in trunk of car was St. Petersburg manTAMPA -- A man found dead in the trunk of a Gold Plymouth Acclaim was identified by police Saturday as Reginald Washington, 29, of 500 S 44th St. in St. Petersburg. The corpse was discovered wrapped in a rug or cloth late Friday night. He had been stuffed into the trunk of a car found at 25th Street and Chelsea Avenue. An officer called to investigate the abandoned car smelled a strong odor coming from the trunk, called a locksmith and found Washington. Neighbors said the Plymouth had been parked there for at least a day. "The cause of death has been determined to be multiple gunshot wounds," said police spokeswoman Katie Hughes.
