Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter marries conductor Andre Previn

Anne-Sophie Mutter and Sir Andre Previn were married on Thursday in a small private ceremony in Manhattan.

Mutter, 39, has been widowed for seven years and has two children, ages 8 and 10. Her late husband, Detlef Wunderlich, a lawyer, died of cancer. Previn, 73, has been married and divorced several times. Past wives have included jazz singer Betty Bennett, jazz poet Dory Langdon, actor Mia Farrow and Heather Hales.

Previn has written two works for Mutter: Tango, Song, and Dance, for piano, violin, and cello, which they have performed together on tour, and a violin concerto, which she premiered in March with the Boston Symphony. She recently performed its European premiere with Previn conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.

The couple will make their home in Munich.
