PHOENIX -- Greg Maddux pitched five strong innings but left with a strained muscle in his right side and the Diamondbacks beat Atlanta 6-3 Wednesday night, ending the Braves' seven-game winning streak.
Erubiel Durazo doubled twice, scored two and drove in the go-ahead run in Arizona's three-run eighth. The Diamondbacks tied the three-game showdown series between the division leaders at 1.
Steve Finley's two-run double in the eighth off former Arizona reliever Darren Holmes helped the Diamondbacks snap Atlanta's longest winning string of the season.
Holmes had not allowed a run in his past nine appearances. The doubles by Durazo and Finley came with two outs.
Matt Mantei got the victory despite giving up a tying two-run, 431-foot homer to Chipper Jones in the eighth.
EXPOS 4, CARDINALS 1: Vladimir Guerrero hit his 29th home run and visiting Montreal sent St. Louis to its seventh straight loss.
The Cardinals' skid is their longest since they dropped seven straight in August 1999. They had their Central lead over Houston cut to one.
St. Louis has been outscored 45-14 during the slump and has one run in four straight games.
Guerrero hit a two-run shot in the first off Jason Simontacchi as the Expos won for the fourth time in six games. Guerrero needs one homer to become the fifth player to hit 200 before his 27th birthday, which will be Feb. 9.
ASTROS 7, MARLINS 2: Roy Oswalt pitched three-hit ball for eight innings and Jeff Bagwell homered and doubled, leading host Houston.
Daryle Ward and Geoff Blum drove in two runs each as Houston won its fourth straight and 12th in its past 15. Oswalt has won six of his past seven decisions.
DODGERS 4, PIRATES 0: Shawn Green homered and drove in three and Andy Ashby ended a seven-start winless streak as Los Angeles pitched its league-leading 11th shutout.
Brian Jordan hit a tiebreaking double in the fifth, helping the Dodgers win for the third time in their past 13 home games.
ROCKIES 7, REDS 2: Todd Helton hit a grand slam and Larry Walker a three-run shot, powering host Colorado.
BREWERS 6, METS 2: Glendon Rusch stymied his former teammates, drove in two and snapped a six-game losing streak for host Milwaukee.
PADRES 5, PHILLIES 2: Rookie Jake Peavy pitched 62/3 strong innings and Ryan Klesko homered and drove in three for host San Diego.
