Inverness flag tribute on agendaINVERNESS -- The Inverness City Council will hold an emergency meeting at 9 this morning to discuss the proposal to line Main Street with American flags by Sept. 11. The flags would fly from 114 power poles along State Road 44, from U.S. 41 S to County Road 581. The meeting was scheduled after Florida Power agreed Wednesday to accept the city's $2-million comprehensive liability insurance policy for the project instead of requiring $5-million in coverage. Council members will decide whether to sign an agreement with Florida Power that would allow a residents' group, led by Arnold and Mary-Ann Virgilio, to hang American flags from the poles. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
