Man gets three years on molestation charge

LARGO -- A former Pinellas County substitute teacher accused of having sexual contact with a teenage girl has been sentenced to three years in prison. Todd Ashley Kite, 39, was arrested last spring on a charge of sexual battery. The charges were not related to Kite's job as a substitute at Anona Middle School, where he substitute-taught in grades 1 through 5. Prosecutors amended the charge to lewd or lascivious molestation. He pleaded guilty to the charge on July 23, then was sentenced three days later. He also must serve three years of sex offender probation after his prison term and pay $578 in costs and fines.

Married couple accused of credit card crimes

LARGO -- Police arrested a couple Tuesday on charges they used a Boca Raton woman's personal information to obtain credit cards, which they used to buy $13,500 in merchandise during a three-year period. Kim Price-Gaskin, 37, was charged with grand theft and criminal use of personal information. Her husband, Aaron Gaskin, 38, was charged with grand theft. Police said Price-Gaskin obtained the woman's personal information while working as a credit approval representative at Mortgage Investors in St. Petersburg in the summer of 2000. She used that information to get two credit cards in the woman's name, which Price-Gaskin and her husband used to charge $13,500, including a $5,000 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse, police said. Detectives arrested the pair at their home, 1648 Adams Circle S, on Tuesday. Both confessed, police said.

Meet the police chief for coffee on Saturday

LARGO -- Residents have another chance to meet with police Chief Lester Aradi for one of his monthly Coffee with the Chief get-togethers. This month's gathering will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Ronnie's Family Restaurant, 2535 East Bay Drive. The event allows residents to discuss concerns with the chief.
