Store employee accused of theft

HUDSON -- A 52-year-old Port Richey woman was arrested late Wednesday while a Pasco County sheriff's deputy was investigating a theft at Kmart.

Charlene R. Richards of 7800 Topay Lane faces one charge of grand theft, a sheriff's report said.

Richards has been working at the service desk at Kmart at 12412 U.S. 19 in Hudson. From late May through the present, Richards recorded fraudulent refunds and kept the cash, the report said.

Deputies suspect Richards would give a refund to a customer and then reuse the receipt to get money back for herself and was captured on video doing so, the report said.

Kmart lost $2,200, the report said.

Richards was taken to the Land O'Lakes jail where she was released Thursday on $5,000 bond.

Teen faces sexual battery charge

HUDSON -- A 15-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday morning after a 10-year-old girl told Pasco County sheriff's deputies that he sexually battered her, a sheriff's report said.

Kyle Shane Young of 11221 Black Walnut St. faces one charge of involuntary sexual battery of a person younger than 12.

The girl told deputies that on two occasions in July, Young forced her to perform oral sex on him, the report said.

Young told deputies he had the girl perform the acts and said he offered her $15 to keep her mouth shut about it, the report said.

Young was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
