SHADY HILLS -- A bomb scare at the Florida Highway Patrol substation Friday closed State Road 52 for about 20 minutes, Pasco County Fire Rescue officials said. The road was shut from 6:40 to 7 p.m. in both directions between Shady Hills Road and the Suncoast Parkway. Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Doug Drape said the Tampa Bay Regional Bomb Squad was investigating a ticking noise coming from a package inside a Federal Express truck in the substation parking lot. The squad declared the scene safe, but it was unclear Friday evening what caused the noise.
