BANKS

AmSouth Bank announced the following appointments: Susan Lang, to senior vice president and director of marketing for Florida, at AmSouth's Tampa office; and Patricia Mitchell, to vice president and branch manager of the Embassy Hills branch, Port Richey. Also Kim Hutson was promoted to vice president and mortgage branch manager of Tampa. Lang was director of marketing for Life Path Hospice, Tampa; Mitchell was vice president at Republic Bank; and Hutson was a mortgage loan officer.

INSURANCE

DavisBaldwin, a division of Wachovia Insurance Services, Tampa, announced the following appointments to its commercial division: Joseph V. Amanno, vice president; Robert J. Muir, risk management consultant; and Mike Suarez, risk management consultant-speciality commercial. Amanno was senior vice president at Marsh USA Inc., Tampa; Muir was vice president of Willis of Maryland Inc., Bethesda, Md.; and Suarez was marketing manager/producer at Carlisle Fields & Co., Clearwater.

LEGAL

George Jirotka was appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush to the Second Appellate District Judicial Nominating Commission. Jirotka is a shareholder at the law firm of Fowler White Boggs Banker, Tampa.

Karen Lopez received the Stetson University College of Law's William Reece Smith Jr. Public Service Award for 2002 in recognition of her achievements in public service. Lopez was vital in forming the Community Law Program, a nonprofit organization that provides pro bono legal services to those who cannot afford an attorney. Lopez is a personal injury lawyer with a private practice in St. Petersburg.

Sheila M. McDevitt received the Corporate Counsel of the Year Award given by the corporate counsel section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. McDevitt is senior vice president/general counsel for TECO Energy Inc., Tampa.

MUSEUMS

The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI), Tampa, announced the following appointments: Dave Conley, vice president of exhibits; Wayne Atherholt, vice president of marketing; and Dr. Judith Lombana, vice president of education. Conley was exhibits director; Atherholt was vice president of retail enterprises; and Lombana was the grants and research operations officer for the School District of Hillsborough County.

NONPROFIT

Scott Budaj has been promoted to chief information officer for Neighborly Senior Services, Clearwater. Budaj was management information services director.

RECRUITMENT

Vicki Adkins has been named vice president of Veredus Corp., Tampa. Adkins was vice president of staffing for Romac International, now Kforce, Tampa.

TECHNOLOGY

John Ciko has been named executive vice president of sales for NKS Inc., Tampa. Ciko was cofounder and president/chief operating officer for CommerceQuest, Tampa.

UTILITIES

James E. Bostic Jr. has been elected to the board of directors of Progress Energy Inc., Raleigh, N.C. Bostic is executive vice president, environmental, government affairs and communications, for Georgia-Pacific Corp., Atlanta.
