Police reports
By Times staff writer Accident on U.S. 19 kills motorcycle riderPORT RICHEY -- A 40-year old New Port Richey woman was killed Saturday night and two others were injured when a car turned in front of a group of motorcycles, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. Walena Cox Bou-Chamoun, 40, 4231 Gulf Shore Court, was pronounced dead at Bayfront Medical Center Saturday night after being flown by medical helicopter from Regency Park Boulevard and U.S. 19 Saturday night. According to troopers, Bou-Chamoun was part of a group of people riding Harley Davidson motorcycles on U.S. 19 at 10:25 p.m. when a 1997 Chrysler, driven by James Doyle, 19, 6602 Winding Brook Lane in New Port Richey, turned in front of them. The report said Bou-Chamoun's 1985 Harley struck the Chrysler and she was thrown off the vehicle. Then, a 2000 Harley driven by John Martinez, 32, 9949 DeCubellis Road, struck the car, ejecting him and his passenger, Joann Dennis, 40, of 8037 Lansing Drive. The fourth motorcycle, driven by Edward Krug, 48, 10229 Maverick St., missed the car but struck Bou-Chamoun, the report said. The report said Martinez and Dennis were injured, but it was unclear where they were taken for treatment and their conditions were not available Sunday. Doyle was cited for violation of a traffic control device, the report said. The accident is the 64th fatality on Pasco roadways this year, according to the FHP. Man's report to police results in his own arrestPORT RICHEY -- Jeff Crouch is in trouble with the law. Again. Crouch, 46, of 5701 Regis Ave. was arrested on Saturday afternoon after reporting to police that his roommate was destroying his belongings. According to the Port Richey Police Department, they found Crouch's claims were untrue. So they arrested him on a charge of filing false reports to law enforcement. Crouch was taken to the Land O'Lakes jail, where he was released Saturday on $500 bail. Last month, Crouch was acquitted in a domestic battery case when the lone witness, Crouch's girlfriend, didn't show up to testify. But Crouch has had bigger courtroom victories. In 1987, Crouch was charged with the murder of his wife, Jean, whose body was found on Green Key Beach in New Port Richey. But a judge threw out Crouch's alleged confession and prosecutors dropped the charge, citing a lack of evidence. And Crouch still could face charges in the 1998 death of his 20-month-old son, Travis, who died from a blow that broke his skull. Police say Crouch remains a suspect in the death, along with a former girlfriend. Drug charges newest problem for contractorNEW PORT RICHEY -- A contractor arrested on scheming to defraud charges that came out of a murder investigation was arrested Saturday by Florida Highway Patrol troopers who said they found cocaine in a car in which she was a passenger. Denise L. Sanders, 36, 16025 Hilltop Drive, was in a car stopped near Rowan and Plathe roads. When Trooper Carissa Fields walked up to the car, the driver -- Dennis Creamer, 33, 14212 Hendry Court in Hudson -- got out and said, "You may as well arrest me now. My license is suspended," the report said. Fields searched Creamer, and found a 9mm handgun magazine in his pant pocket. Then, when searching the car, she found 168 grams (about 6 ounces) of cocaine, several hundred plastic baggies, a digital scale, other drug paraphernalia and a 9mm handgun. At the Land O'Lakes jail, a Pasco County Sheriff's Office detention deputy found 2 grams of cocaine on Creamer during a search, the report said. Both Sanders and Creamer were facing charges of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell, possession of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia and armed trafficking. Creamer was also facing charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed firearm and introduction of contraband into a jail. They were being held Sunday night at the jail; Sanders on $120,500 bail and Creamer on $145,500 bail. Sanders is also facing charges of scheming to defraud in connection with the construction of a house in New Port Richey where a man was found beaten to death. David Pollard, who was having the house built, asked Simon Clarke to investigate suspicions that a contractor was overcharging for work on Pollard's mansion. Clarke set up a meeting with the contractor -- Sanders -- on Nov. 28 at the house. That night, friends found him beaten to death at the house, police have said.
