By Times staff writer Dade City bicyclist dies in pickup truck accidentDADE CITY -- One man died Sunday evening when a pickup truck crashed into two people, one on a bicycle and another in a wheelchair, according to law enforcement reports. Those reports give the following account: The driver of the pickup truck, Jimmy Sparks, 55, of Dade City, was headed north on U.S. 301 when the accident happened north of Whitehouse Avenue at about 9 p.m. Enrique Hernandez Barbosa, 58, of 37407 Tait Ave., rode his bicycle into the path of the truck. He was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where he died early Monday after emergency surgery. After the truck hit the bicycle, it spun and struck Patrick Leon McCray, 38, of 37831 Martin Luther King Blvd., who was in a wheelchair. He also was flown to St. Joseph's, where he was treated and released with minor injuries. According to reports, investigators believe there were no reflectors or headlights on the bicycle. Barbosa was not wearing a helmet. The investigation into the case continued Tuesday.
