By Times staff writers Sunshine Law complaint filedCRYSTAL RIVER -- City Council member Susan Kirk filed a Sunshine Law violation complaint with the State Attorney's Office on Wednesday. She alleged that three council members -- Kitty Ebert, Bonnie Taylor and John Kendall -- and Mayor Ron Kitchen discussed official business in private several times in recent months. "It's been brought out in the public and the public deserves answers," Kirk said. Her move came after council members rejected an offer by the city attorney Monday to "clear the air" with an in-house investigation. All four deny any wrongdoing. County seeks outside legal helpINVERNESS -- The County Commission decided Tuesday to seek an outside attorney to handle the Halls River Retreat challenges brought by two residents' groups. County Attorney Robert Battista told commissioners his office is swamped with other cases, including challenges to the Brown Schools facility, a lawsuit over the incinerator on County Road 495 and appeals arising from the Ozello beekeeper code enforcement case. In coordination with the county's insurer, Battista will hire an attorney to defend the commission's approval of Halls River Retreat, a 54-unit time share condominium project in Homosassa.
