BRONCOS: Wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, who strained his right quadriceps in a 27-3 win over Chicago Saturday, missed a third straight practice. Coach Mike Shanahan said he will miss Monday's game against San Francisco.

BROWNS: Running back J.J. Johnson was put on injured reserve, sidelining him for the season. Johnson, 28, acquired from Miami in March, injured his neck on the second day of training camp. If the team can work out a contract settlement, he can be signed again and activated after the 10th week of the season. ... For a second straight year, wide receiver Kevin Johnson is being mentioned as a trade candidate. Cleveland and Johnson's agent have been unable to agree on a contract extension. Coach Butch Davis said the team is trying to sign Johnson, not trade him.

COLTS: Sixth-round draft pick Brian Allen is out for the season with a sprained ligament in his left knee. Allen, a 5-foot-9, 205-pound running back out of Stanford, had surgery Thursday. ... Running back Dominic Rhodes injured his right knee and is scheduled for an MRI today.

TEXANS: Wide receiver Trevor Insley, who suffered a season-ending broken lower left leg in the Hall of Fame Game, was placed on injured reserve. ... Rookie offensive tackle Matt Anderle was claimed off waivers from the Chargers.

TITANS: Defensive end Jevon Kearse will miss the final two preseason games and possibly the season opener with a strained triceps muscle in his left arm.
