    Expect Skyway delays

Half of the Sunshine Skyway will be closed for repair work tonight, and motorists can expect delays as northbound and southbound traffic will take turns using the bridge for seven hours.

Both lanes on the Skyway's southbound span are scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Florida Highway Patrol cars will lead vehicles across the remaining side of the bridge, alternating between northbound and southbound traffic.

The closure was to take place Monday night, but rainy weather delayed workers.

Officials warn that traffic could be delayed for up to two hours as the DOT replaces defective expansion joints on the bridge.
