Gallery 501 at Blake High School, 1701 N Boulevard, opens today with an exhibition of works by Lori Ballard, Leslie Elsasser, Sean Parrish, Joshua Margolis and Jay Titus -- all emerging artists from the 2002 Gasparilla Festival of the Arts.
The public is welcome to the opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m.
Blake students helped the artists install the show to learn about lighting and layout.
In the spring, Blake seniors will organize their portfolios, culminating in their own shows in Gallery 501. In addition to creating the art, the process teaches students to curate and market their works.
Gallery 501 is open to the public Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors must stop by the school office for access. Call for more information, 272-3422.
