Proposal seeks to tack on 13 large lotsBy Times staff© St. Petersburg Times published August 25, 2002 A zoning hearing master is scheduled to hear the following requests this week: ODESSA: Developers are seeking a zoning hearing master's endorsement of a request to add 13 lots to two existing subdivisions off Brown Road. The applicant proposes combining two separate parcels south of Van Dyke Road with the existing 66-home Canterbury and 14-home Hunter's Glen subdivision into one zoning designation. That would allow developers to build nine 1-acre lots, three 2-acre lots and a fourth lot with an existing barn on the newly acquired property. The Planning Commission is recommending approval of the request, stating the project would be "consistent and compatible with the surrounding development pattern." The request will be heard by a zoning hearing master on Monday. Hillsborough County Commissioners are scheduled to hear the request at the Oct. 8 land use meeting. (Petition 02-0996) CITRUS PARK: County staffers and the Planning Commission are not supporting a request to allow home office uses on the north side of Gunn Highway, west of the Veterans Expressway. The 0.41-acre parcel is now part of a planned development project approved for a convenience store, a gas station and drive-through restaurant. In its review, the Planning Commission stated that "changing the use of the site would remove approximately half of the planned fast-food restaurant and thus leave the remaining portion of the site unusable." The request is scheduled to be heard by a zoning hearing master on Monday. (Petition 01-1518) UPPER TAMPA BAY: A request to develop five homes on 3.25 acres at the southeast corner of State Street and Honey Bee Drive will also be heard by a ZHM on Monday. County zoning officials are recommending approval of the project. (Petition 02-1027) CARROLLWOOD: Mobley Housing Group is proposing a 91-home subdivision on 38 acres off Hutchison Road, north of Rawls Road. Lots would range from 4,440 square feet to 6,660 square feet. A ZHM is scheduled to hear about the project Tuesday. County staff and the Planning Commission are endorsing the request. (Petition 02-0881) TOWN 'N COUNTRY: Wal-Mart Stores Inc. wants to expand the garden center at its 115,381-square-foot store on Waters Avenue, east of Hanley Road. The company is also seeking to slightly reduce the number of parking spaces and to add seasonal, enclosed storage as an allowed use in the northeast parking lot. The request is scheduled to go before a ZHM Tuesday. Zoning staff is supporting the request. (Petition 02-0335) LUTZ: A developer is asking permission to build homes on 23 acres southeast of Hampton Village Drive, north of Bearss Avenue. Lot sizes would be a minimum of 7,000 square feet. Plans will be presented to the zoning hearing master on Tuesday. County staff and the Planning Commission are supporting the project.
