Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

  • SYSTEM: Xbox
  • COMPANY: Bethesda Softworks
  • PRICE: $49.99
  • RATING: Teen

I have just taken a vacation to a different world. This ancient, monster-ridden, fantasy world is called Morrowind. In Morrowind, not only am I allowed to choose my own path, but also who I am and if I even want to follow a path in the first place. I could do whatever I wanted and not be inhibited by a storyline or common sense. Morrowind is the only game I have played that lets you experience true freedom. You can be who you want (choose from 10 races, more than 20 different classes, or create your own class), go where you want, choose your own storyline and choose what quests you want to do. There is a main quest, but you don't have to do it. You can just take quests from various guilds and townsfolk, or you can become a hunter and sell animal hides, a tomb raider and find treasure, or even a thief. You can become the most powerful man in Morrowind by becoming head of every guild, and maybe even king. The graphics in Morrowind are great, with some of the best water effects I've seen in a game. There is great detail and huge towns and areas with barely any load time in between. The frame rate isn't the best, though, and will sometimes lag during fights or when lots of people and dialogue are on screen at once. There are occasional glitches where you will get stuck, and the townspeople do nothing but stand around. The fighting system has some problems. The biggest one is that it doesn't tell you how much damage you've done or how much you need to do to kill someone. But fighting isn't the main thing in this game, so it really doesn't do much to harm the overall game. Morrowind is one of the best games on Xbox and can keep you involved for months if you stay at it.

Gravity Games Bike: Street -- Vert -- Dirt SYSTEM: PlayStation 2

  • COMPANY: Midway
  • PRICE: $49.99
  • RATED: Teen

Gravity Games Bike is a cool BMX game. You can play as Dennis McCoy, Tim "Fuzzy" Hall, Reuel Erickson or one of the other 18 characters. They even have fantasy riders such as Bobby Bones, a BMXer who is just a skeleton, and 75-year-old Ramp Granny, who claims to be the mother of biking. As one of these characters, you can check out five game modes using more than 1,500 insane tricks. You can tailwhip over acid pits, Smith grind on bars you find on the walls or attached to the ceiling, or maybe dare to attempt the dangerous double backflip in 10 different and unique places. Gravity Games Bike can also be a two-player game. In multiplayer mode, there are five other games to choose from: High Scores, Grind Attack, Best Run, High Five and Team Attack. In High Five, each player is given five chances to score as many points as possible by doing combos. The player with the best combo wins. In Team Attack, both players are trying together to earn 100,000 points by doing tricks and grinds. With Gravity Games Bike, you can even check out footage from some of the real Gravity Games Competitions. Some of the tricks are mind-boggling! The soundtrack to this game is amazing. It includes songs from Disturbed, Adema, Sugar Ray and 311. Overall this game is fantastic! The only thing that could make it better is if the bikers looked more realistic.

Grade: B+
