ST. PETERSBURG -- A boater accused of throwing his wife overboard Saturday has been arrested on an attempted murder charge.

Lisa Murray, 33, told police her husband, Owen F. Murray, 34, of 4018 Indianapolis St. NE, pushed her over the railing of his 28-foot boat into Tampa Bay about a mile south of Pinellas Point.

Police said the couple had been drinking heavily when an argument erupted about 5 p.m. over a phone call from the woman's ex-boyfriend. Owen Murray also was charged with with operating a vehicle under the influence.

A passing boater rescued Lisa Murray after she was left treading water a quarter-mile from shore.

Police arrested Murray about 6:40 p.m. Saturday and brought him to the Pinellas County Jail. He was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
