Star 95.7 eliminates morning show

WSSR-FM 95.7 (Star) has eliminated its Jeff and Jen Morning Show, choosing instead to focus on continuous music.

Hosts Jeff Thomas and Jennifer Jordan last appeared on their morning show Aug. 16, doing fill in work on WFLZ-FM 93.3 the following week. WSSR now features an hour of music at 7 a.m. and seven songs played in a row all day long.

The move came, in part, because WSSR owner Clear Channel Communications already owns stations featuring two of the market's top morning shows: The MJ Show on WFLZ and Bubba the Love Sponge on WXTB-FM 98.7 (98 Rock), said operations manager Jeff Kapugi.

"You do end up competing with yourself a little bit," Kapugi said. "We thought we wanted to offer a show that had more music in it."

Jordan, who like Thomas has a contract with Clear Channel until January (the pair hopes to find work in another market), said the duo has no hard feelings.

"We tried something new and it just wasn't right for the station or the market," said Jordan, who moved with Thomas from WFLZ in January 2001 to create the show.
