BENITO MIDDLE: Students, parents, faculty and staff will assemble a 300- by 87-foot plastic U.S. flag as a memorial to those who died in the Sept. 11 tragedy. Wednesday's ceremony will begin at 9:45 a.m. along the school track at 10101 Cross Creek Blvd. The public is welcome. For information, call Lisa Cox at 631-4694.

BRYANT ELEMENTARY: Grandparents are invited to read to their grandchildren's classes on Friday. For information, call 356-1645.

The school will commemorate the events of 9/11 and recognize local firemen, police and military parents. Activities begin at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at the school, 13910 Nine Eagles Drive. Students may wear red, white and blue clothing instead of their uniforms. Call 356-1645.

CANNELLA ELEMENTARY: The School Advisory Council will meet at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the media center, 10707 Nixon Road.

Rio Bravo night is Friday and commemorates Cannella's 10th anniversary. The restaurant at 13001 N Dale Mabry Highway will donate 15 percent of sales made by Cannella parents, students and faculty from 2 p.m. to closing. Call 975-6941.

CHILES ELEMENTARY: The PTA dinner meeting is Thursday in the cafeteria, 16541 W Tampa Palms Blvd. Dinner, catered by the Olive Garden, will be served at 5:30 p.m. The meeting starts at 6:30. Call 558-5422.

Parents are invited to observe the Sept. 11 anniversary with a celebration of patriotism from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. in the courtyard. The ceremony will include patriotic songs and the Pledge of Allegiance.

CLARK ELEMENTARY: The PTA will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in the multipurpose room, 19002 Wood Sage Road. Call 631-4333.

DAVIDSEN MIDDLE: The school will join Westchase Elementary for Flags Along Linebaugh on Sept. 11. Led by eighth-grade drummers, students, faculty and staff will march up Montague Street to Linebaugh Avenue, where they will meet up with Westchase Elementary. Both schools will then line the street from Sheldon Road to Gretna Green Drive and wave American flags in honor of those who died in the Sept. 11 attacks. Call 558-5300.

ESSRIG ELEMENTARY: Grandparents are invited to the school Sept. 9. A reception will be at 8:30 a.m. in the school media center, 13131 Lynn Road. Classroom visitation will follow. Call 975-7307.

Parents are invited to a patriotic celebration at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 11 in the school courtyard.

FARNELL MIDDLE: The PTSA will hold its general membership meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria, 13912 Nine Eagles Drive. Pizza will be available at 6:30 p.m. Call 356-1640.

FREEDOM HIGH: Conference night will be from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the school, 17410 Commerce Park Blvd. Call 558-1185. HUNTER'S GREEN ELEMENTARY: The PTA Volunteer Social will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the media center, 9202 Highland Oak Drive. Grandparents are invited to eat lunch with their grandkids on Friday in the school cafeteria. Call 973-7394.

The school will recognize the Sept. 11 anniversary at an outdoor assembly at 8:30 a.m. Students, staff, faculty and parents will recite the Pledge of Allegiance, sing patriotic songs and present firefighters of Fire Station No. 21 with equipment bought with contributions from the community.

MANISCALCO ELEMENTARY: The school at 939 Debuel Road will host Curriculum Night Sept. 9. The parents-only meeting will address grade level expectations and benchmarks, individual classroom procedures and the new report card. Parents may choose to attend the 6 to 6:40 p.m. or 6:50 to 7:30 p.m. meeting. Call 949-0337.

McKITRICK ELEMENTARY: There will be a volunteer orientation breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the school cafeteria, 5503 Lutz-Lake Fern Road. Grandparents of third-grade students are invited to eat lunch with their grandkids Friday. Call 558-5427.

NORTHWEST ELEMENTARY: Grandparents and grandfriends are invited to the school's Grandparents' Day on Friday. The celebration will begin at 8 a.m. Activities include a breakfast, musical program and readings. Please respond as soon as possible. Call the PTA at 975-7321.

Families are invited to Camp Read-A-Lot from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the school, 16438 Hutchison Road. The event includes storytelling, make-and-take activities and a "camp-out reading area." Snacks will be provided.

SCHWARZKOPF ELEMENTARY: PTA Bingo Night is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria, 18333 Calusa Trace Blvd. A brief PTA meeting will be followed by bingo and popcorn. Call 975-6945.

The school has declared Sept. 11 as Red, White and Blue Day. Students, parents, staff and faculty will gather on the P.E. court at 8 a.m. The public is welcome.

SICKLES HIGH: The school at 7950 Gunn Highway invites parents to College Awareness Night from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 in Room 138. There will also be a PTSA meeting at 6:30 that night. The next program is scheduled for Oct. 21. Call 631-4742.

TAMPA PALMS ELEMENTARY: Children are invited to a skating party from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Skate Factory on Nebraska Avenue. Call 975-7390.

WESTCHASE ELEMENTARY: Ready Reader volunteer training will be from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday in the school multipurpose room, 9517 W Linebaugh Ave. The fifth-grade volunteer committee will also meet Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room.
