Floral City teenager named as crash victimBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published September 4, 2002 Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal car crash near Nobleton on Friday evening as Lenard Davies III, 17, of Floral City. A Florida Highway Patrol accident report made available Sunday said Davies was driving west on County Road 476, a half mile west of Nobleton, about 5:45 p.m., when his 2002 Kia slid across the east lane, made slick by heavy rain, and hit a tree on the shoulder of the road. He was not wearing a seat belt, the report said. Nobleton straddles the Hernando and Sumter county lines and is not far south of Citrus. Steven Spahr, a Nobleton man who came upon the accident scene, found the car in flames. He called 911; then he and his two teenage sons began throwing buckets of water on the car. Spahr said the car's engine was still roaring and the stereo was on full blast. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
