Editor: I would like to publicly thank the Pasco Times and reporter Matthew Waite for publishing the article about the recent theft of the equipment trailer belonging to the Gulf High Buccaneer Band. I have received many kind words and condolences from my fellow faculty members at Gulf, band parents, alumni and the public at large about this theft. That means people have read the article and are aware of our situation. I even had a recent graduate of my program send a check from his dorm room at the University of Florida to help in the rental of a trailer if we needed it.

One person who read the article Tuesday morning was Michael Cox of the Holiday Rotary Club, who offered to let us borrow a 20-foot trailer that the organization owns to help us for this year's football season. As I announced this to my classes Tuesday, there were cheers and applause from our band members in appreciation. We are continuing to work with the insurance company, and it appears that our trailer may be replaced, but it will take time. I would still ask that the community continue to keep an eye out for our missing trailer and help return it to where it belongs.

On behalf of the Gulf High Band, Band Boosters and Band Alumni, I would like to greatly thank Mr. Cox and the Holiday Rotary Club for allowing us to use their trailer. As the busy football season approaches, we can now focus again on providing the best quality music education and musical performances we can give. Our band program is indebted to Michael Cox and the Holiday Rotary Club, and we hope that we can return the favor.

Editor: Several weeks ago the employees of the Visiting Nurse Association of Pasco County sponsored a benefit yard sale to help one of our co-workers with a medical condition that will cause her to be out of work for several weeks. The event turned out to be a great success. We received donations from several area businesses: Dobies Funeral Home, Physicians Stat Lab and 3 J's Auction. Customers attending the sale not only purchased items, but donated generously. Some returned the following day to donate items of their own to the cause. This is a great community and we would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all who participated. God bless each and every one for their donations, time and effort.

Editor: The West Pasco Historical Society sincerely thanks a wonderful group of men who volunteered a recent Saturday morning to do some heavy landscaping cleanup on the grounds of the museum.

They are Mike Copeland (Southern Pride Pest Control), Pat Kerrigan (P&T Lawn Service), Jim Budday (Mr. Handy), Don Lichterman (PyroEngineer Security), Christian Isaly (Westcoast Financial) and his dad, Bill Isaly.

It was a steamy morning and the work was back-breaking, but these guys saw a need and came out to help. Thank you, gentlemen.
-- Ginny Miller, Recording Secretary, West Pasco Historical Society
