The Rays will wait to make a decision on the future of minor-league outfielder Greg "Toe" Nash, who may be released from a Louisiana jail this month under terms of a plea agreement being worked out.
Nash was arrested in January on charges of aggravated rape of a 15-year-old girl, aggravated crime against nature and felony theft, but some of the charges may be reduced or dropped, agent Larry Reynolds said.
Nash made news after the Rays signed him out of semipro league in rural Louisiana in late 2000, and again when details of five previous arrests surfaced.
Director of player personnel Cam Bonifay said the Rays wouldn't have any comment on Nash's status until reviewing the situation. The Rays reinstated him from the suspended list last week, but Bonifay said that was a procedural move corresponding with the end of the minor-league season.
