Seminole Mall to host 'American Idol'-like contest

SEMINOLE -- Seminole Mall will present its own version of the popular TV show American Idol with "Sing Your Heart Out," a seven-week competition searching for the best singers in the Tampa Bay area.

SEMINOLE -- Seminole Mall will present its own version of the popular TV show American Idol with "Sing Your Heart Out," a seven-week competition searching for the best singers in the Tampa Bay area.

Seminole Mall has teamed with William Clare Entertainment and Suncoast Hospital to present a series of competitions: Sept. 14, 21 and 28 and Oct. 5, 12 and 19. The finals will be Nov. 2. All performances will take place in the mall's center court area from 1 to 3 p.m.

Contestants will be scored by a panel of judges on vocal ability, stage presence and audience response. The winner of each of the six preliminary contests will receive $100. Two singers from each contest will advance to the finals.

The grand-prize winner will receive gifts from Seminole Mall Merchants Association, a photography session and a recording session.

A $10 entry fee is required to participate and each contest is limited to 15 entries. Entry fees are available at the Seminole Mall office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Seminole Mall is at the northeast corner of Seminole Boulevard and 113th Street. Call 392-8174.
