'Rolling Requiem' commemorates Sept. 11

To remember the events of last Sept. 11, more than 125 choirs around the world will take part Wednesday in performances of Mozart's Requiem. This "Rolling Requiem" will include the Tampa Bay Concert Choir, directed by Frank M. Wells III, above. Along with the Mozart, the choir will sing works of Benjamin Britten, Randall Thompson and Wells.
"I guess these pieces tend toward asking us to take a sort of contemplative response," Wells said. "We're hoping to provide a place for people to come and think about what happened and maybe come up with their own reasons why it happened and what our response ought to be."
The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Octagon Arts Center, Unitarian Universalist Church, 2470 Nursery Road, Clearwater. Free. Child care provided. (727) 688-2787. For more information, see the Web site www.rollingrequiem.org.
