Two candidates qualified to run for the vacant District 1 School Board seat. But on Aug. 16, candidate Don Bates pulled out of the race when questioned by the Times about his 1994 arrest on charges of indecent exposure.
That left Lou Miele as the sole candidate in the contest and the winner of the seat.
Since ballots were printed in advance, Bates and Miele will appear on the ballot. But voters do not need to vote in that race. No results will be tabulated for the seat, since it is not being formally contested.
