Late surge gives B-CC win vs. Florida Atlantic

MIAMI -- Bethune-Cookman scored three touchdowns in three minutes late in the fourth quarter Saturday afternoon to rally past Florida Atlantic 30-17 at Pro Player Stadium.

Allen Suber threw for two touchdowns, ran for another and completed a two-point conversion pass to key the Wildcats' late surge.

Suber connected with Erik Lash on a 45-yard touchdown with 3:46 left, and the two-point conversion -- another Suber-to-Lash pass -- tied the score at 17.

Bethune-Cookman forced a punt, and a personal-foul penalty gave the Wildcats the ball at FAU's 23-yard line with 2:11 left. Suber rushed into the end zone untouched on the next play, putting his team ahead for good.

JACKSONVILLE 37, LENOIR-RHYNE 27: Boshawn Mack picked up a blocked extra-point attempt and returned it for a safety, helping the host Dolphins hold on.

A.J. Driver's 28-yard TD reception with 5:25 left brought the Bears within 28-27. Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) needed the conversion to cap a 21-point comeback, but Quincy Harp blocked the kick.

Mack picked up the ball and raced 90 yards to the end zone, giving Jacksonville a 30-27 lead.

FAMU 64, MORRIS BROWN 6: Casey Printers threw four touchdowns and ran for two more for the host Rattlers.

FAMU took a 43-0 lead in the first half as Printers completed 20-of-29 for 219 yards. Florida A&M led 29-0 at the end of the first quarter, with its defense recovering three fumbles and holding the Wolverines to one first down.

ELON 23, FIU 22: Anthony Turowski kicked a 23-yard field goal with 2:52 left for host Elon.

Elon won its opener thanks largely to its balanced rushing attack, which amassed 377 yards. Rashaud Palmer led the Phoenix with 94 yards and two scores.

That offset 257 passing yards by FIU's Jamie Burke, who had a 68-yard touchdown to Harold Leath with six minutes left for a 22-20 lead.
