TAMPA -- Two men were arrested Sunday morning and charged with robbing several businesses, police said. At the Bonefish Grill on Henderson Boulevard in South Tampa, two men stole money from two cleaning workers in the parking lot and carjacked a 1994 blue Dodge Intrepid about 4:45 a.m., police said. After fleeing, the suspects robbed the Radiant Food Store at 101 N Howard Ave., the Hyde Park Texaco at 900 W Kennedy Blvd., and the Coastal Mart at 702 W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., police said. Officer Greg Krug saw the stolen car at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Armenia Avenue and attempted to stop the suspects. They refused and sped away. The pursuit ended when the robbers crashed at Armenia and Aileen Street. The suspects ran but were caught by police. Rovon Darnell, 21, of 2730 W Main St. was charged with four counts of robbery, carjacking, burglary, fleeing and obstructing an officer and driving without a license. Angelo Lofton, 20, was charged with the robberies, carjacking and burglary. Hillsborough County records show Lofton of 1922 W State St. has been arrested several times in the past few years on charges including robbery, possession of cocaine and trespassing. Both were taken to Orient Road Jail and held without bond. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
