Man dies in jump from Skyway bridgeBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published September 9, 2002 ST. PETERSBURG -- The U.S. Coast Guard recovered the body of a man who jumped off the Sunshine Skyway bridge early Sunday morning. Hillsborough County Sheriff's officials said a witness saw the man on the bridge at 5:20 a.m., just before he jumped. The Coast Guard was called and retrieved the body about 6 a.m. Authorities did not release the man's name, pending notification of his relatives. It was the second Skyway suicide in less than a week. Another man jumped off the bridge Wednesday, and was found Saturday.
