ACCOUNTING

Gregory, Sharer & Stuart, St. Petersburg, has announced the following appointments: Kenneth A. Thomas, manager in the assurance division; and David S. Oliver, to the 2002-2003 Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountant's Committee on Federal Taxation. Thomas was an experienced manager in the Assurance division for Arthur Andersen, Tampa; Oliver is a supervisor in the firm's tax department.

BANKS

SunTrust Bank, Nature Coast, has elected Jeff Hooper as president and George Williams as vice chairman. Hooper was the retail line of business manager; Williams was president and commercial line of business manager.

HOSPITALITY

Kristi Carroll has been promoted to general manager of the Hampton Inn-Tampa Veteran's Expressway-Waters Ave. for BayStar Hotel Group, Tampa. Carroll was an assistant general manager.

INSURANCE

Richard Lane has been elected to the board of directors of the Florida Association of Independent Insurance Agents. Lane will serve on the catastrophe and small and rural agents committees. Lane is principle of InsureTek Insurance Associates, Tampa.

LEGAL

Michael R. Alford was promoted to director of litigation for Raymond James Financial, St. Petersburg. Alford was vice president of human resources and chief employment counsel.

Judge Nelly Khouzam has been named Florida Jurist of the Year by the American Board of Trial Advocates. Khouzam was appointed to the Sixth Judicial Circuit bench in 1994 and sits in the criminal division.

Joseph Rugg has been named director of the center for excellence in health law at Stetson University College of Law, Gulfport. Rugg is a shareholder at the law firm of Akerman Senterfitt, Tampa.

MEDICAL

Dr. Patrick A. Cambier was elected as physician chief of staff for Mease Hospitals. Cambier is an interventional cardiologist for the Heart & Vascular Institute of Florida, Clearwater.

ORGANIZATIONS

William P. "Will" Bissett Jr. has been named chairman of the Merchants Association of Florida. Bissett is president at the brokerage company Bissett McGrath Properties Inc., Tampa.

Tami Sims-Powell has been elected first vice president of the Florida Federation of Business and Professional Women. Sims-Powell is the owner of Graphic Strategy, St. Petersburg, and is an organizational consultant.

TECHNOLOGY

Alex Eckelberry has been named president for Sunbelt Software, Clearwater. Eckelberry was executive vice president for Mijenix, Boulder, Colo.

Alyson Homenuk has been named regional director of business development for the West Coast of Florida, for Audio Visual Innovations, Tampa. Homenuk was president of Geneva Consulting, Tampa.
