Sept. 16: Choice applications available in Family Education and Information Centers. Magnet and fundamental school applications are already available from family centers or the school where you are applying.
Sept. 16: Special attendance permit applications are available. They can be turned in any time, but they will not be considered until after the choice application process is complete.
Oct. 1: District would like declaration of intent back, although it's not due in school officials' hands until Dec. 13. (Mail it back to the district in the postage-paid envelope the district provided.)
Oct. 15: Magnet and fundamental school applications due to the schools where you are applying. The district prefers the applications be returned in person, though they can be mailed. If they are mailed, the school must receive them by Oct. 15; applications postmarked Oct. 15 will be too late.
Nov. 10: Letters mailed to families notifying them whether they were accepted into a magnet or fundamental program. If you're on a wait list, you will learn your number on that list.
Nov. 20: Deadline for deciding whether you want to accept a place in a magnet or fundamental school.
Dec. 13: Choice applications due in person to a family center. (If you haven't applied by this date, you will be placed in a school after all other students have been placed.)
January 2003: The district will send letters to parents, letting them know where their students have been assigned.
