    Northbound Skyway closing Saturday

For Sunshine Skyway bridge commuters waiting for the other shoe to drop, the state Department of Transportation has some good news.

Weather permitting, the full closure of the northbound lanes for replacement of expansion joints will be done this Saturday. This would avoid serious traffic tieups on the heaviest commuting days of the week.

The full closure will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday. Work is scheduled to be concluded Sunday at 5 a.m., though there is the potential for the northbound lane closure to extend later into that morning.

For the rest of this week, single-lane closures of the northbound lanes will continue during the overnight hours.

During the full closure, traffic will alternate using the southbound lanes.
