Navy Petty Officer 1st Class James T. Wright Jr., son of Katrina and James T. Wright of St. Petersburg, departed on a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the guided missile destroyer USS Paul Hamilton. His home port is Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Wright is a 1986 graduate of Gibbs High School. He joined the Navy in August 1987.

Navy Airman Apprentice Stephen M. Peterson, son of Carol M. and Jon D. Peterson of St. Petersburg, completed a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp, based in Norfolk, Va.

Peterson joined the Navy in August 2001.
