MILLINGTON, Tenn. -- Larry Dixon raced to his eighth Top Fuel victory of the season Sunday, taking the O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park.
Dixon beat Tony Schumacher with a quarter-mile run of 4.600 seconds at 318.69 mph. Schumacher finished in 4.798 at 286.64.
Tony Pedregon and Jeg Coughlin also won their divisions in the $1.8-million event.
Pedregon got his career-high fifth Funny Car win of the year, beating Del Worsham at 4.909 and 315.12. Coughlin topped Pro Stock drivers, edging Gene Wilson at 6.849 and 200.80.
SPORTS CAR CHAMPIONSHIPS: Emanuele Pirro and Frank Biela led every lap in the American Le Mans Series event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif.
Italy's Pirro battled fellow Audi R8 driver Tom Kristensen during the first half, but Germany's Biela had clear sailing after taking over. The second Audi fell out of contention with a broken suspension piece.
The Pirro-Biela Audi finished 25.799 ahead of the Audi R8 of Johnny Herbert and Stefan Johansson in the 2-hour, 45-minute timed event on the 2.238-mile circuit.
Germany's Claudia teamed with Americans Steve Knight and Chad Block to win the LMP 675 class for smaller Prototypes.
Tomas Enge of the Czech Republic and Peter Kox of the Netherlands won the GTS class in a Ferrari 550 Maranello, and Germany's Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr won the GT class in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
