Question: Do flavored coffee beans have more calories than regular beans? What about flavored instant coffee? G.D.

Answer: The flavorings added to coffee beans do not add extra calories. The beans are soaked in flavorings to absorb their flavor. Powdered flavored coffees contain nondairy creamers that contain hydrogenated oils and other sweeteners that increase the calories and fat when compared with a regular cup of coffee.

Instant oats and fiber

Question: How do they make instant oats, and do they provide less fiber than regular oats? Jane.

Answer: Instant oats are processed differently than regular oats.

Instant oats are pressed thinner, which allows them to absorb water more quickly.

Ounce for ounce, instant and regular oats provide the same amount of fiber.
