SPRING HILL -- An infant girl remained hospitalized Saturday, a day after her father found her floating in a fish pond in the front yard of the family's Spring Hill home.
Ten-month-old Gianna Linsalata was unconscious when deputies arrived at her home at 7172 Logan St. about 5:30 p.m., according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office report.
The girl was not breathing when emergency workers arrived, the report said. She also did not have a pulse, but her heart did begin beating again after paramedics performed CPR.
The infant was first taken Spring Hill Regional Hospital and then to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. At the family's request, the hospital did not release information about her condition on Saturday.
The report said the girl's father, James Linsalata, was watching her at the time of the near-drowning.
He told deputies that she was gone from his sight for only about a minute before he discovered her in the pond.
Sheriff's detectives are investigating the incident.
