Police reportsBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published September 30, 2002 2 men steal 49 pairs of pants from the GapPORT RICHEY -- Two men ran off with $2,352 worth of khaki pants from the Gap at Gulfview Square Mall Friday afternoon, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Two unidentified men stole 10 pairs of stretch khaki pants valued at $480 and 39 pairs of khaki boot-cut pants valued at $1,872, according to a deputy's report. A store employee followed the men into the parking lot, where they jumped into a beige Chevrolet van and sped off. The employee saw part of the van's license plate, but deputies were unable to match it to a similar vehicle. Man charged in beating of girlfriend on SR 54HOLIDAY -- A 37-year-old New Port Richey man was charged with aggravated battery Friday night after witnesses saw him beat and kick his girlfriend along State Road 54, according to the Pasco County sheriff's office. According to a deputy's report, Kenneth Hartman of 4027 Woodsville Drive beat his girlfriend after she refused to get a job as a dancer at a local club. The victim suffered a broken nose and other facial fractures and was treated and released at Community Hospital of New Port Richey, according to the report. Hartman was booked into the county jail in Land O'Lakes and was released on his own recognizance Sunday. Man jailed briefly in dog license caseNEW PORT RICHEY -- A dog license violation landed a 20-year-old New Port Richey man in jail briefly this weekend. Deputies pulled over Jacob Brandav of 6341 Garland Court for a routine traffic stop. A background check revealed that Brandav was wanted for skipping a court date last month.
