The St. Petersburg Times and the Miami Herald surveyed 800 registered voters who said they will likely cast ballots in the Nov. 5 general election. The poll was conducted by telephone Sept. 24-26 by the Washington-based polling firms of Schroth & Associates, whose political clients are primarily Democrats, and the Polling Co., whose political clients are Republicans. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.
