FORT LAUDERDALE -- More than 90 percent of the jury candidates called Monday for the trial of a former FBI agent charged with vehicular homicide and manslaughter said they already knew some details about the case.
But the most common reasons for people to be excused were work and other scheduling problems with a trial expected to last more than a month.
David Farrall, 39, is accused of being drunk, driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 and killing two brothers in a head-on crash in November 1999. He could face 30 years in prison if convicted.
The Florida Highway Patrol initially botched the investigation by saying that one of the brothers was the wrong-way driver.
Jury selection actually began 15 months ago and resumed Monday after a state appeals court reinstated two manslaughter charges. During a break in jury selection, Farrall pleaded innocent to two counts each of vehicular homicide, drunken driving manslaughter and manslaughter while driving with an illegal blood alcohol level.
