Promising young players T. Reeves and Josh Guinand are locked in the lead of the All-Star Boys Scratch Singles at AMF Clearwater Lanes.

Reeves and Guinand each sport a 28-0 mark after four weeks of competition. Reeves is averaging 203, Guinand 190, and each owns the season mark in high games and series.

Shannon Profit leads the girls scratch league with a 24-4 mark. Allie Edgar (22-6) and Jamie Potter (18-10) are second and third, respectively. Profit has the high scratch series (620). Ashly Galante, fourth in the standings, has the high game (258).

Team No. 4 leads the B.C. Junior Gold standings at 64-35 with Jennifer Gross, Billy Kitchens, Potter and Guinand.

The All-Stars League is headed by Team No. 6 -- Chris Edgar, Jonathan Brady and Justin Fecke, 21-7. The Pin Heads (19-9) top the Junior Olympians with Cory Connell, Joey Kupiec, Jamie Gross and Bryan Cline as the squad.

The leagues are Cheryl and Bill Bedford's new Junior Gold program at the center.

YOUTHADULT TOURNEY: Youngsters and adults are expected to turn out in force for the 36th annual Greater Pinellas YABA YouthAdult Tournament, Oct. 19-20 at Sunrise Lanes. The event runs two weekends, with the finals on Oct. 26-27. Adult partners are needed. Call tourney director Nikki Salerno, (727) 544-2333; or pick up a flier at local centers. The entry fee is $20 per person per event. Re-entries are allowed, up to eight shifts for the youngsters. Last year, Kyle and David Hartzog and Kristofer and Jay McClendon won the Bantam and Prep divisions, respectively. Greg Ickes and his adult partner, Drew Beierlein, fired clean scratch series to win the Junior class, and Randy Finigan and Joe Minarik captured the Major-Senior title. JV SHAKE-UP: Largo, Northeast and Countryside maintained leads in the Pinellas County High School League after the sixth week of action, but Dunedin No. 2 scrambled the junior varsity standings. Michael Poisson, Ashton Fregeau, Anthony Acess, Michael Copp and Steve Edgerton make up the Falcons, who jumped from third to first by leaping over former leader St. Petersburg No. 2 and Clearwater. Largo's boys varsity held its scratch lead with a 111-15 mark, and Seminole (64-25) moved into first in the handicap competition. The Northeast varsity girls continue to roll along in the scratch division lead, followed by East Lake and Palm Harbor. The Countryside girls head the handicap chase, with Seminole and Palm Harbor trailing.

NEW EVENT: The Clearwater Women's Association will offer a doubles tournament Oct. 20 at AMF Clearwater Lanes. The entry fee is $15 per bowler, and walk-ins are accepted. The CWBA has had its city tourney for 42 years. By adding this event, the organization hopes to attract more players and expand membership. The first doubles squad rolls at 11 a.m. and is followed at 2 p.m. by the annual general fall meeting. A second team goes at 4. For information, call Tammie Jungling, (727) 462-2888.

IN TOWN: The Florida Youth Scratch Bowlers Scholarship Tournament is at Clearwater's Countryside Lanes on Oct. 12-13, offering scholarship money to the winners. The entry fee is $45 preregistered, $50 for walk-ins. Winners of the 185 average-and-above and 184-and-below divisions will earn $200 each, based on 30 entries. For information, call (321) 956-7664, or e-mail maree49@aol.com or fysbtdir@aol.com.

ADD ANOTHER ONE: Pinellas Park's Paul Geldhauser e-mailed to remind us that he, too, rolled consecutive 300 games and a 196 for a 796 series at Rainbow Lanes three years ago. "They were my first and second 300 games, and I had to wait until I was 60 to do that," he wrote. "I'll probably hit the lottery before I do it again." We mentioned in last week's column there were two who had accomplished that feat in the county. Make that three. AROUND THE LANES: Youth bowler Ryan Brembs rolled a 280-838, Steve Felsman a 285-810 and Sam Austin a 300 at Seminole Lanes. ... Scott Hammond recorded a 300-669 at Sunrise Lanes. ... Larry Walters posted a 300-774 and Matt Mayhew a 299-729 at AMF Kenneth City Lanes. ... Rick Pittman logged a 299-804 at Ten Pin Lanes. ... Jeff Catton scored a 279-802 and Mike Smith Sr. a 300-716 at Dunedin.
