Golf fundraiser scheduled at Avila

Sign up now for the YMCA Golf Classic on Oct. 14 at Avila Golf & Country Club. The annual fundraiser provides scholarship money for the Central City YMCA. Cost is $200 per person and includes on-course contests and gourmet food. Registration deadline is Wednesday. For information, call 224-9622, ext. 224.

Put your running shoes on Saturday

The second Wharton Wildcat 5K Run jumps out of the blocks Saturday.

The cross-country race at Wharton High School begins at 7:30 a.m. The pre-race day entry fee is $15. The race day fee is $20. Proceeds will support the Wharton Parent Teacher Student Association's grant program.

5-kilometer run planned in Northdale

The Northdale Pumpkin Run, a 5-kilometer run/walk, is scheduled for 8 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Northdale Recreation Center. The event will benefit the Northdale Civic Association and the Bob Sierra Family YMCA annual giving campaign. The race is open to runners of all ages and skill levels.

Awards will go to the top three male and female finishers. Cost is $15 in advance, $20 the day of the event. Registration forms are available at the Bob Sierra Family YMCA, 4029 Northdale Blvd., and online at www.tampaymca.org. The Northdale Recreation Center is at 15550 Spring Pine Drive. Soccer team needs players

The Hillsborough County United Soccer Club is seeking players for a recreational under-14 boys team. Players need to be 12, 13 or 14 as of Aug. 1. Practices have begun, and games begin Oct. 26. For information, call 792-7757.
