New rates for reclaimed water put off at meeting

Hillsborough County commissioners delayed plans to revise the rates homeowners associations pay for reclaimed water Wednesday, saying the issue needed more study.

Commissioners had directed the county's water department to come up with an alternate rate structure for large, nonprofit reclaimed water consumers. Having done that, some customers such as Carrollwood Village property manager Dan Ruskiewicz still didn't like the terms.

Ruskiewicz tried to make his point at a public hearing on the matter, but after cruising through the three-minute time limit to speak, commissioners decided to table the proposal.

Ruskiewicz and Northdale property manager Rick Pitrowski plan to meet with water department officials in the coming weeks to work more on the rate structure.

Planners: Bruce B. Downs should be eight lanes

NEW TAMPA -- Bruce B. Downs Boulevard must be eight lanes. That's the conclusion of Hillsborough County's Metropolitan Planning Organization after considering the three alternatives for widening Bruce B. Downs in New Tampa.

Two of the alternatives are for eight lanes. The third as a six-lane proposal. The MPO recommended that the eight-lane proposal include reserving right of way for future light rail transit at a cost of roughly $28-million.

The Florida Department of Transportation has said six lanes would not accommodate traffic along Bruce B. Downs.

Homeowners association to take up contract again

TOWN 'N COUNTRY -- The Morganwoods Greentree Homeowners Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Phase IV clubhouse to discuss execution of a contract with Superior Structures Inc., for installation of Dryvit Exterior Insulation and Finish System. Board members tabled the contract during their meeting Sept. 10, after the board's attorney recommended against it until a number of issues could be addressed.
