TOWN 'N COUNTRY: Two acres off Sheldon Road, south of Waters Avenue, may soon by rezoned to allow townhomes.
The request, submitted by Harveer and Navpreet Randhawa, asks the county's permission to build up to 24 three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhomes on the property near the Carefree Village Mobile Home Park. The current zoning now allows six homes per acre.
A zoning hearing officer is scheduled to hear about the proposal Nov. 18. (Petition 02-1419)
CARROLLWOOD: The owner of the Gunn Collection shopping plaza, at the southeast corner of Gunn Highway and Anderson Road, wants to add more panels to its sign on Anderson Road. The sign "is not adequate to provide sufficient signage for the tenants within the center due to the significant tree canopy" along the road, the petition states.
A land use hearing officer is scheduled to hear the request Nov. 22. (Petition 03-0002)
LAKE MAGDALENE: A request to build a private Christian school on property now used by Idlewild Baptist Church was postponed until the Oct. 18 land use hearing officer meeting. The proposal had been scheduled for the Sept. 27 hearing. (Petition 02-1144)
A zoning hearing master is scheduled to hear the following requests this week:
OLDSMAR: New Era IV Limited Partnership is requesting permission to build up to 53,866 square feet of commercial space off Hillsborough Avenue southeast of Race Track Road. The Planning Commission and the county's Planning and Growth Management Department are not supporting the proposal. A zoning hearing master is scheduled to hear about the plan Tuesday. (Petition 02-1028) CITRUS PARK: The owner of 0.41 acres off Gunn Highway hopes a zoning hearing master will support her request to allow home office uses on the property, just west of the Veterans Expressway. County staffers and the Planning Commission recommend denial of the petition. The site is part of an approved development that will include a convenience store, drive-through restaurant, auto service shop and carwash. The hearing master will hear the request Monday. LUTZ: County staffers are not supporting a rezoning request that would allow for intensive commercial development of 0.64 acres at the northeast corner of E 145th and Florida avenues. The Planning Commission wrote in its review that the proposed development would not be compatible with surrounding residential zoning. A zoning hearing master is scheduled to hear about the plan on Tuesday. (Petition 02-1107)
County commissioners are scheduled to vote on the following petitions Tuesday:
CARROLLWOOD: Mobley Housing Group wants to build a 91-home subdivision on the west side of Hutchison Road, near Pennington Road. The Planning and Growth ManagementDepartment, the Planning Commission and a zoning hearing master recommend that commissioners approve the project. (Petition 02-0881)
UPPER TAMPA BAY: Ariel Quintela, president of A-Investment Development Corp., is asking for permission to develop up to five homes on 3.25 acres at the southeast corner of State Street and Honeybee Lane. The zoning staff supports the request. (Petition 02-1027)
TOWN 'N COUNTRY: The Wal-Mart at Waters Avenue and Hulsey Road wants to expand its garden center, reduce the number of parking spaces at the store and add seasonal, enclosed storage in the northeast parking lot. Staffers recommend the board approve the changes. (Petition 02-0335)
ODESSA: Developers want county approval to add 13 homes to the Canterbury and Hunter's Glen subdivisions off Brown Road. They plan to join two parcels south of Van Dyke Road with the 66-home Canterbury and 14-home Hunter's Glen neighborhoods into one zoning designation. County zoning officials are endorsing the proposal. (Petition 02-0996)
KEYSTONE: Leslie Land Corp. is seeking approval of a request to make minor changes within Highland Park, a neotraditional development approved for the southeast corner of Race Track and S Mobley roads. (Petition 02-1313)
