Construction begins on new schoolBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published October 9, 2002 LAND O'LAKES -- Construction has begun on Pine View Elementary along Parkway Boulevard in Land O'Lakes, set to open in August as Pasco County's newest school. Workers have already cleared the 20-acre site, across the street from Pine View Middle School, of grass, trees and shrubs. More than 500 children from the Lake Padgett Estates East, Eagle Island Estates and Sable Ridge neighborhoods are expected to attend the new school, but attendance boundaries won't be finalized until February. The new school promises to ease overcrowding in Land O'Lakes' three existing elementaries: Lake Myrtle, Denham Oaks and Sanders. Lake Myrtle will likely provide the bulk of the students for Pine View. School officials plan to open Pine View even if the cafeteria and other parts of the building aren't finished by summer. Students might have to carry their lunches to school until work wraps up in the fall of 2003. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
