Bon Secours Maria Manor, a 274-bed Catholic nursing home in northeast St. Petersburg, has joined an exclusive group.

Gov. Jeb Bush announced Tuesday he will give Bon Secours Florida's Gold Seal award for excellence. Only 10 homes in the state, including two others in the Tampa Bay area, have now won the award, which requires homes to maintain stable staff and excellent inspection reports for 30 months in a row.

In its application, Bon Secours highlighted its "Angels Passing By" program, which supports dying people with soft music, 24-hour aides and a journal that lets family and staff say their goodbyes.
