Tampa comes to life on canvas

Sergey Grebeniouk has been busy. Though the 28-year-old Russian has lived in Tampa for only a year, has produced 75 oil paintings of the city.

"Tampa Landmarks and Lookouts" will be on display at Hoffman Porges Gallery Saturday through Nov. 16. Grebeniouk's plein-air canvases capture a 21st century metropolis as if seen by a 19th century impressionist, with a dash of expressionism thrown in.

Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and by appointments. 1907 E Seventh Ave. in Ybor City. (813) 247-2000.
