LIZARD TALES: Chinsegut Nature Center will have its annual Reptile/Amphibian Expo Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the center. The free event includes exhibits, lectures and nature walks. GONE TO THE DOGS: The Hernando County Kennel Club will have an American Kennel Club sanctioned match show at 10 a.m. Sunday at Florida Classic Park, near Ridge Manor West. The show is an all-breed confirmation and obedience judging for AKC-registered dogs. Along with the competition, there will be food and dog-related products for sale. RODEO AND BARBECUE: The 26th annual Hernando County Rodeo & Barbecue Festival begins today at 6 p.m. at the Hernando County Airport on U.S. 41 south of Brooksville. The weekend festival features carnival rides and live entertainment. Admission to the festival is free. Rodeos, scheduled at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, are $5 for children and $12 for adults at the gate. FALL CAR SHOW: The Wal-Mart Distribution Center will host a fall car show from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 at the center, 5100 Kettering Road, near Ridge Manor West. It is the center's annual fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network. Last year, the center raised more than $70,000 for the charity. CURTAIN CALLS

The Hernando Symphony Orchestra is conducting auditions for its 2002-03 season. Openings are available for trumpet, trombone, French horn, violin, viola, cello, percussion and oboe players. The orchestra is a volunteer group that performs three concert series each season. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at Chocachatti Elementary School, 4135 California St., south of Brooksville.
