George F. Ferris has been promoted to the position of executive vice president for FKQ Advertising and Marketing, Clearwater. Ferris is a partner and has been with FKQ for nine years.

ARCHITECTURE

Harvard Jolly Clees Toppe Architects PA, St. Petersburg, announced the following promotions:Yvette London andPaul Schnitzlein, both to vice president. London and Schnitzlein were senior associates.

ATTRACTIONS

Tom Roberts has been named curator of education for Florida Botanical Gardens, Largo. Roberts was director of communications for Selby Gardens, Sarasota.

BANKS

Cindy Ewald has been promoted to vice president and branch manager for AmSouth Bank at its Hudson office. Ewald was branch manager for AmSouth's Embassy Hills office.

FINANCE

First Housing, Tampa, announced the following appointments: Elisabeth "Beth" Bellner, senior vice president/originator; and Edward A. Busansky, senior vice president. Bellner was a senior vice president for AGM Financial Services Inc., Orlando; Busansky was a senior vice president for Bank of America in its Community Development Group, Tampa.

HOSPITALITY

Dr. Wilfried Iskat is the recipient of the 2002 Paul Brown Award for Distinguished Service to Hospitality Education. The award is given annually by the Florida Hotel and Motel Association to a Florida educator or hotelier who creates significant advances in the industry's education and training program. Iskat is dean of the hospitality program at Schiller International University, Dunedin.

INSURANCE

Beth Anne Whalen has been appointed manager of business development for Omega Insurance Services, St. Petersburg. Whalen was director of acquisitions at Raymond James Tax Credit Funds, Tampa.

LEGAL

Robert Eschenfelder Esq., has been appointed to the St. Petersburg Planning and Historic Preservation Commission. Eschenfelder is an assistant county attorney for Manatee County.

Denise Wheeler has been named a shareholder at the law firm of Macfarlane Ferguson & McMullen, Tampa. Wheeler was an associate.

John Wilcox has joined the law firm of Salem Saxon PA, Tampa, as a partner. Wilcox serves as special counsel for Tampa Bay Water.

MANUFACTURING

Carl Salazar has been named a district manager for McNichols Co., Tampa. Salazar was an inside sales manager for Ryerson-Tull, Milwaukee.

PROFESSIONAL

Florida State University has appointed Bruce L. Frey and Lyle A. Breeze to the College of Human Sciences, department of building design advisory board. Frey is president of Johnson-Frey-Turzak Group Inc., New Port Richey; and Breeze is president of Breeze and Associates Inc., Tarpon Springs.

RETIREMENT

Robert Galitz has been named director of hospitality for Pinecrest Place, Largo. Glitz was director of marketing for Chambrel at Club Hill, Dallas.

TOURISM

Peter Guptill has been elected chairman of the board of directors for Visit Florida, the state's official tourism marketing corporation. Guptill is president of Dollar Rent A Car Florida.

UTILITIES

Chuck Warrington has been named chairman of the American Public Gas Association, a national nonprofit association of municipally-owned natural gas distribution systems. Warrington is managing director of the Clearwater Gas System.
