COWBOYS: Rookie safety Roy Williams had an MRI to determine the extent of his heel injury, but results were not released. Coach Dave Campo said Williams is day to day.

EAGLES: Tackle Patrick Venzke, the only German citizen to play in the league as a nonkicker, was signed to the practice squad. He spent last season's final 12 games on Jacksonville's roster, but did not play.

FALCONS: Rookie linebacker Will Overstreet was placed on injured reserve with an ailing left shoulder. He soon will have surgery to repair a torn labrum. Karon Riley, who was signed off the practice squad, took Overstreet's spot. ... Coach Dan Reeves said the Falcons have five days before they must release a player to make room for cornerback Ray Buchanan, who returned after serving a four-game suspension for testing positive for anabolic steroids.

GIANTS: Defensive tackle Keith Hamilton had an MRI on his torn right Achilles' tendon, but results weren't available. Coach Jim Fassel said he is confident the injury sustained in the loss to Atlanta won't end the 11-year veteran's career.

LIONS: Tight end Mikhael Ricks has a pulled groin and is questionable Sunday against Chicago. Wide receiver Bill Schroeder had an MRI on his injured knee and results were not available. Germane Crowell, who has been on the injured list since knee surgery last year, returned to practice. Linebacker Clint Kriewaldt reinjured his foot and will miss at least one game.

PACKERS: Left tackle Chad Clifton tore the medial collateral ligament in his right knee against the Patriots and is expected to miss 1-3 weeks. Center Mike Flanagan likely will replace him.

PANTHERS: Quarterback Rodney Peete needs surgery on his right knee and will be sidelined at least three weeks, putting Chris Weinke back in the starting lineup. Coach John Fox said Peete has played with a torn meniscus all season and will have it repaired today. Special-teams ace Jarrod Cooper is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, linebacker Dan Morgan (strained groin) is questionable Sunday against Atlanta as is receiver Steve Smith (bruised ribs).

RAMS: Isaac Bruce's first-quarter touchdown catch against the Raiders Sunday was his 58th, tying him with Eric Dickerson on the franchise's career TD list. ... Marshall Faulk's 158 yards rushing gave him 9,861 for his career, surpassing Hall of Famer Joe Perry (9,723) for 15th on the career list. Faulk needs one TD to tie for seventh on the all-time list and match John Riggins (116).

VIKINGS: Linemen Matt Birk and Chris Hovan (minor knee injuries) and receiver D'Wayne Bates (groin) are day to day.
